As the country tentatively moves out of lockdown, it is important that we all remember that the Corona Virus remains a very real presence in all our lives and strict practises still need to be followed in order to help avoid catching it, or passing the virus onto others.

At Drive Green we care greatly for both our customers and our staff, and consequently we are taking these protective measures very seriously.  We want our staff to be safe at work, and our customers to feel comfortable  and relaxed when visiting, safe in the knowledge that we are doing everything we can to help stop the spread of the virus.

“We want our staff to be safe at work, and our customers to feel comfortable and relaxed when visiting”

Social Distancing

Social distancing remains our biggest defence against the spread of the virus, and although lockdown is now over we think it is critically important that all face to face contact between staff and customers is carried out at a safe social distance.  Our staff are fully conscious of this and will make sure that they maintain a distance of at least 2m from all visitors at all times.

To make this easier to achieve we have laid out the office in 2 distinct areas, and customers can access from 2 separate entrances, so there is no need for separate sets of customers to have to pass or come into any contact with one another.

The 2m distance is also clearly marked on the floor for both customers and staff so it is easy to keep at least 2m apart.

In addition to being 2m apart we also have protective screens between customers and staff to add additional protection.

Social distancing as well as hand hygiene are both absolutely critical measures when it comes to controlling the transmission of CV-19 and consequently we are taking all the measures we can.

Strict Limits on Visitor Numbers

In order to make safe social distancing in the office and on the forecourt possible, we are now doing forecourt visits and test drive on a strict appointment only basis, so as to ensure there may only ever be a maximum of 2 sets of customers wanting or needing to be in the office at any one time.

Should customers arrive without an appointment (which I am afraid is inevitable), we will still operate on a strict 2 sets of customers in the office at one time maximum, and priority will be given to customers who have made an appointment.

We have a lovely outside space at Drive Green, so there is plenty of room for additional visitors to visit and view are cars, maintaining safe social distancing, and without needing to go in the office. We have even got an outside shelter where we can meet and chat with additional customers, whatever the weather.  Since the science is increasingly showing the much lower risk of transmission when outside, we are doing everything we can to put additional focus on dealing with customers outside and to make this as comfortable and natural as possible.

Hand Sanitising

Hand hygiene is critical in stopping the spreading of the Corona.  To make sure that the office remains germ free, there are 2 hand sanitising stations before you enter the building – one at each entrance.  This should be used by everyone before they enter.

There is also a hand sanitising station within the office, which is regularly used by the staff, and are available for any visitor to use.

The entrance hand sanitising station can also be used on exiting as well, so you can get back into your own car knowing that you are not leaving with any additional germs on your hands.

Office Cleanliness

As well as making sure no fresh germs enter the building, the office and all its surfaces are cleaned at a minimum daily, plus regularly touched items, such as handles, tablets, and pens are cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day / after usage.

If you need to use a pen you will be provided with one that is completely clean and sterilised, if you have not bought your own.

Gloves

Gloves are made available to any customers wishing to wear them for test drives or touching pens or paperwork for example.

Face masks

Whilst it is the responsibilities of us all as individuals to provide our own facemasks and to wear them as appropriate, we also have a stock of facemasks that can be provided, if required.

Our Facemask Policy

Facemasks should always be worn if social distancing is compromised for any reason.

Our policy outside of this is that all visitors are welcome to wear facemasks, and any visitor can request that we also wear facemasks in their presence.

Equally we may request that all visitors wear a facemask whilst in the office.

Facemasks being worn by everyone (staff and visitors) is compulsory if visitor numbers exceed 2 sets at any one time.

Please do not feel awkward about asking for facemasks to be worn, and equally please do not be offended if we request that you wear a facemask whilst in the Drive Green office.

We will display appropriate signage to emphasis this policy.

Test Drive Car Hygiene

In each of our test drive cars we have a some hard surface disinfectant wipes, that you can use to wife steering wheels, gear shifts, handles, buttons as required before you go on a test drive.  We can also provide you with a pair of gloves if you prefer and don’t have your own.  The key is also provided in a sterile bag so you do not even need to touch they key itself.

With regards to what you would like us to do and how you would like to approach your test drive.  We can wrap the steering wheels and gear selectors before your drive, you can alternatively wipe the car down yourself with the surface wipes provided, or alternatively we can provide you with a pair of gloves.  We can even run our sterilising machine for 20 minutes prior to your test drive. Our personal opinion is that gloves are the best solution, however where there is a choice of measures, we like to leave the final decision to the visitor and what makes them feel most comfortable.

At the end of each day, every car that has been used for a test drive will be given a proper deep sterilisation using our special disinfecting machine, and after each test drive the car is given a sterilising wipe down of the steering wheel and gear selector.

Hygiene in your new car

Prior to delivery or collection, you new car will be thoroughly cleaned once again, plus it will be given a proper deep sterilisation using our special disinfecting machine.  We will also sterilise keys, which will be provided in a sterile bag.  The steering wheel, gear selector, seat, and handbrake will all be provided with a protective sterile cover. If handled by staff past this point, gloves and masks will be worn, so you are guaranteed a germ free new car when you come to collect it, or have it delivered.

Contact Free Delivery

If you prefer we can get your new car delivered to your door.  The car will be fully sterilised before it leaves Drive Green.  It is then transported on a delivery truck, and only moved on and off the truck by a driver wearing protective gloves.

All the paperwork will be present in a handover pack that will be left on the passenger seat of the car ready for you.

We can do a full instructive handover over the phone when you are in the car.  We can run through all the controls and what you need to judo just as is if we were doing the handover in person on the forecourt.

We also have a virtual handover videos which will help to explain all you need to know about your new car.

We are also always available at the end of the phone to answer any of your questions at any time.

Remote Purchase

If you prefer you can have the complete Drive Green experience, without even having to visit the forecourt.

We are well practised with remote sales, as even before this crisis we would remotely sell cars across the country.  Luckily due to our reputation people have always been happy to remote buy from us, and we are now very well practised at doing this in respect of the current safe distancing requirements.

What we do with a remote sale, is we take a deposit on a car, which is then delivered to the customer for final viewing.  Assuming the customer is happy with the vehicle (since all our cars are first rate in preparation this has so far always 100% been the case), they would then transfer the balance payment for the  car. If for any reason the customer is unhappy with the car they can then reject the vehicle, which the delivery truck driver would then bring the car back, and then the deposit would be refunded back to you, less the cost of delivery and return.

Ultimately if you would like a car we can sell you one and get it to you, even if you do not wish to visit the forecourt or come into any contact with people .

We are happy to spend as much time as required on the phone with you discussing your requirements and helping advise you, just as we would do if you were to visit the forecourt.  As always we will make sure everyone knows what they need to know and has what they need to have, even if we can’t do a face to face consultation.

Please rest assure we are still always here to help, and we always provide the full Drive Green service, despite the challenges of working within the current restrictions.
