Remote App Controls – It’s Always Sunny in an EV

If there’s one way to describe the weather in the UK it would be “fickle”. The only thing I can be certain of is that the temperature inside my EV won’t be due to my clever remote app controls!

Winter Warmers

There is nothing that brings me more satisfaction than coming out to a de-iced, pre-warmed car on a winters morning. Whilst my neighbours are outside chipping, scraping and generally complaining; I’m turning the heating on over a bowl of cornflakes. We all know that having automatic or remote heating in winter is one of the great benefits of EV ownership. The thing is, I’ve never used remote climate control in Summer. That is until the past two months of crazy weather.

There’s Nothing Like Consistency

This Summer, I’ve set up our current car to always be at a comfortable 20 degrees when I start my day. Last month, this provided a pleasant breeze when I stepped out of the sun. This month, it’s provided some much-needed warmth in the morning so I don’t require a jumper. Now I know I shouldn’t have to worry about heating in August but it’s seemingly going to be one of those Summers.

The thing is, I never used to do this. I always thought of the remote climate control function as a heating function. I’m sure those from hot climates use it all the time but I never really have to.

What Can We Learn From This?

I think this recent experience has helped me to re-appreciate the great technology we have in EVs. The fact that I can forget we have such a useful feature just goes to show how good the overall package is.

There are so many great features in  EVs that I think we’ve almost taken them for granted. I can’t help but feel like internal combustion cars are now so archaic when I jump back into a petrol vehicle.

At Drive Green, we will always make sure we show you all the special features of any EV including all the remote app controls. We find the technology exciting and can’t wait to share it with you.
