There are several levels of extended battery warranty available, to suit the different degrees of consumer concerns and the age of the vehicle. The cover ranges from 6months to 3 years (depending on the age of the EV), with discounts for EV’s with smaller batteries and under 10 years old. The cover can either pays out a fixed sum, or cover a repair or replacement, should your battery health decline past a certain point*.
* The level of Warranty cover available is determined by the mandatory Battery Health test results that we can perform on site at Drive Green.
Covering the cost of replacing or repairing your cars traction battery back, or providing a lump sum cash payment settlement, this cover covers faults with the traction battery, its battery management system, and any integrated thermal management system. This is ideal extra cover for older EVs and those out of manufacturer’s battery warranty.
• Available on any cars up to 12 years old and up to 200k miles

• Triggered at an earlier battery degradation point than the manufacturer’s warranty, of 70%
• Cover continues post-manufacturer warranty

These are a great value low cost piece of mond cover, especially well suited to consumers with higher mileage and older EVs approching the end of their manufacturers warranty. They can provide up to 3 years of cover, and up to 30k miles pa, and can be taken out on EVs where battery health at inception is as low as 82%. They provide cover up to 12 years of age and up to 200k miles.
Whilst battery degredation is generally much lower than would be expected, and failures are rare, the cost of repair or replacement in the event of an issue can be expensive. Even if in manufactueres warranty, the manufacturers and dealer groups consistently will do anything the can to get out of honouring their warranty, so having the extra piece of mind these warranties give is very valuable.
